Technology has a life force and life is suffering.
The Central Canadian Center for Performance is seeking 4 artists to present work in the first of a three part performance series.
Through technology life is made simpler, yet at the same time more difficult.
Our struggles with technology often outweigh the benefits (ie. Time spent searching for the remote, in order to avoid getting up to turn on the TV). Technology helps to build community, but at the same time often separates personal relationships.
As a response to this, we are looking for performance works which address one of the the four noble truths of Buddhist philosophy as applied to this love/hate relationship to technology:

Life is Suffering

The origin of suffering is attachment and accumulation

the cessation of suffering is attainable

the path to the cessation of suffering
This is a juried show for Manitoba artists whose works are based in performance or live art. This is a multi-disciplinary show and we invite artists from all performance disciplines. Four artists works will be chosen and each artist will receive $200 for their performance work. There is no funds for travel but arrangements can be made for boarding artists from outside of Winnipeg.
The event will take place at the Atomic Center, March 30th, 2012. The space is a large 30’x 60’ empty space with 14’ ceilings. There is lots of power available. We can provide a basic PA and projectors, but artists are encouraged to supply their own equipment if possible.
Submissions can be new works or old works.
